AUTHENTICITY FOR ORGANIZATIONS
Authentic Leaders transform organizations.
Authentic Leaders transform organizations.
Authenticity is a word that is used frequently, but its meaning is not universally understood. In an organizational setting, authenticity refers to the ability to be yourself, enjoy the work that you do and the people you work with.
For the organization it means that an environment has been created where employees:
Often the problem in organizations is that people are not engaged. Research says that only 32% of people working today are engaged at work. Many come for the paycheck, produce marginal work and only tolerate co-workers.
Leadership is an experience, for the leader and those they lead.
The experience for the leader is the act of personally observing, encountering, and undergoing something. No matter how many people you lead or what you lead them toward or away from, you will go through a personal experience, encountering challenges and undergoing successes. It is a unique type of learning. When it is done from an authentic perspective, it deepens self-awareness.
The experience for those being led is transformation. Sustainable change takes place when team members have the experience of being led by leaders who personally observe, encounter and undergo something in ways that are engaging and empowering.
That is the transformational experience of Authentic Leadership. It is most effective when leaders are knowledgeable about themselves, the gifts they bring to the table, the experiences that they can create, how they interact with their teams, how they lead and where they are vulnerable. Self-aware, authentic leaders engage their teams in ways that create the type of success the leader is striving for. It’s efficiently done with mutual respect, comradery, and enthusiasm.
What is the challenge your organization is facing? Is it lack of enthusiasm, conflict, diversity, communication or other issue that negatively impacts engagement?
How is it showing up? As low attendance, accidents, reduced sales, decreasing profits, low membership, or just that your growth is marginal and you want to kick it up a notch or two?
The process is:
The training/coaching plan can be a single day or multi-years and can include one person or an extensive train-the-trainer program.
The starting point is understanding your challenge(s) and adapting the questions on the Organization Authenticity Assessment to those needs.
What Norma addresses is what every leader needs to pay attention to. You can’t lead if you don’t know yourself.
M.A., FIRE MARSHALL, VENTURA COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT
Norma has a great ability to connect with everyone regardless of age, sex, social class. I feel everyone was able and willing to look inside which doesn’t always happen in our line of work. I recommend Norma as a person who can connect with all walks of life. Someone who can inspire even the most stubborn minds to look inside themselves to better their lives and those around them.
