The
most important way we impact the future is to impact
the children around us.
What
does it mean to live an authentic
life?
First let me lay a few foundations. You see
I believe that each child is born with a unique set of
gifts and talents that were given by the child's creator
who I call God. And I believe that God gives each person
their unique gifts and talents based on His
purpose.
When children come to the planet they don't
understand why they are here, who they are or what they
are supposed to do. Those of us who are adults and have a
view of the world have the responsibility to help the
child know who they are - in terms of their gifts and
talents - who God wants them to be.
How do you help a child become
authentic?
The role of the caregiver is basically to
guide the child to self-sufficiency. Every human person
has to have a level of self-sufficiency in order to be an
independent adult. The role of the parent and
caregiver is to prepare the child to be self-sufficient by
giving the child:

Knowledge of the planet where he lives and what it takes
to survive on the planet. This includes maintaining
self-sufficiency on the planet through sound health,
relationship and financial practices.

The ability to communicate with self and others
effectively
*
Access to the skills and activities to be
self-sustaining
*
The ability to listen to the 'good' voice
within
*
Clarity by helping them discover their true values
*
The drive to inspire themselves
*
Wellness principles and practices that help children build
strong bodies
*
Role models on what it means to be a friend and how to
build relationships
*
An understanding that true abundance is not just
financial
*
Knowledge of their natural gifts and
talents
*
Opportunities to maximize their best
personality

The habit of a lifestyle that is life
generating

Once you
understand these concepts and hear how they have impacted

As
you look around the landscape of today's
society you see people taking to the streets to
emphasize their dissatisfaction.

Many
public schools lack computers, textbooks and even toilet
paper.

It's
not unusual for politicians put their personal agendas
above the public good.

We
are encouraged to do whatever we can to become wealthy, as
if it's all that matters.

Long
term natural resources continue to be depleted for short
term financial gain.

Violence,
poverty and greed greet us in many corners of the
world

A
40 - 60 hour work week is a way of life.

We
live to work and we work to pay bills.
We
perform jobs we do not enjoy with people who do not share
our values. We spend most of our waking hours in these
places that take a great deal of our time, energy and
temperament. Often just getting to and from work in
traffic is more stressful than the job itself. It's a
wonder we have the energy, interest and will to care for
our children with the joy, wonderment and adventure that
enables them to grow into healthy productive and joyful
adults.
Call
me an idealist but I don't think life was intended to be
lived with the primary objective of getting back and forth
to work. Ask yourself is this the type of lifestyle you
really want for yourself? Does it allow you to spend
quality time with your family in pursuit of meaningful
activities?
Remember
when your parents and their parents talked about the
kinder, more compassionate and ethical lifestyle that used
to be? I bet you've seen a lot of moral change in your
lifetime too, haven't you?Imagine how much
change the children in your life will experience in their
lifetime, especially during this technological age. And
imagine how the moral deterioration that we have seen will
continue to occur. Can you imagine the kind of world they
will be living in? Is this what you want for your children
and grandchildren?
You
can make a difference. It just takes a deeper
understanding and implementing a few activities to the
children in your world step into the authentic life that
they were born to live.
Imagine a world where the children in
your life are comfortable with who they are,
know their gifts and talents and use them
in positive ways in the
world.
These
children don't engage in altercations with others because
they have clarity about who they are and how to bypass
potential negative energy. You become a more powerful role
model and build a stronger relationship with the children
in your life. And in a short time you see the world around
you becoming more cooperative, comfortable, happy and
joyful. And so do the children around you. Even if nothing
has changed in your circumstances, an
authentic transformation takes place within you that
enables you and the children around you to embrace life
with a newfound energy of joy.

The
program is conducted by me, Norma T. Hollis, America's
Leading Authentic Voice Doctor®. My first career was
spent in the field of early childhood. After
directing large urban Head Start programs for 20 years I
developed the Authentic Voice System. This system is based
on human and spiritual development and identifies nine
dimensions that enable you to find your authentic voice
and create a life of authenticity.
An
authentic life is a life where your gifts and talents
thrive. It is based on the belief that God granted each
person certain gifts and talents to enable them to do the
work that God desires of them in the world - their
purpose. By recognizing a child's natural gifts and
talents at an early age the child can be raised to
maximize the talent and become the authentic person they
were born to be.
As an early childhood specialist I
loved watching how young children expressed their gifts. I
also had the chance to see how parents recognized and
developed or suppressed the gifts of their children. As I
watched these children travel through three years at a
child care center I saw that t here was a clear
relationship between how their gifts and talents were
honored and the joy they expressed in
life.
Then in
my second career coaching speakers I learned what
happens to a person's gifts and talents as they grow. I
met speakers whose gifts were so developed that they could
not help but be successful on stage. Other speakers were
still trying to find themselves and overcome the challenge
of not being clear on who they are or what
they are supposed to do. I learned that the
difference had a lot to do with how their gifts and
talents were nurtured during childhood.

be derived. Then money can be a part of the equation and
not the main focus.
Such
an attitude enables the child to build a world of
compassion and care rather than competition and greed. And
as an adult mold the world around him/herself to one of
authenticity. This can then positively impact future
generations and it is only through such a generational
effort that we can combat all of the inauthentic
degradation of society that we see all around
us.
